Vito Sandifolo

Country Manager (Malawi), CAVA II

Vito is the Country Manager of the Cassava: Adding Value for Africa, phase II, Malawi. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture majoring in crop sciences from Bunda College of Agriculture and over 25 years of experience on root crops while working with the Department of Agricultural Research Services in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in various capacities, the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) on a number of cassava projects including seed multiplication and dissemination, postharvest handling and commercialisation.

Mercilina Lwanda Kadewa

Technical Expert- Investment

Mercilina has an MSc degree in Agribusiness obtained from Bunda College. She has excellent skills in agribusiness management, cooperative development, community mobilisation and rural development.
Prior joining CAVA II project, she worked as the Programmes Manager for CADECOM for 2 years. She also had a time with the Ministry of Agriculture in Malawi, where one of her main roles was interpreting and implementing government’s agribusiness policy and conducting business development training for a number of value chain actors.

Gilbert Kamiyala

Monitoring Learning and Evaluation Officer

Gilbert Kamiyala has a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Economic from Bunda College. He has 7 years experience in project design, monitoring and evaluation with international organisations. He worked for World Vision International as Monitoring and Evaluation Co-ordinator for two years before being promoted to Pragramme Manager for Ngodzi Integrated Development Programme. Some of his main responsibilities included leading project management, value chain market analysis,   networking with district and community partners, staff capacity building, supporting development of community engagement, mobilisation and conducting gender analysis and project monitoring, evaluation and report writing.
