Country Manager (Tanzania), CAVA II
Grace Ngwasy Mahende is the Country Manager, Cassava: Adding Value for Africa, (CAVA II), Tanzania. She has more than twelve years of experience in the agriculture sector, where her research focused on a wide range of crops including: fruits, tea, oilseeds, tobacco and cassava.
She started her career in the tea industry at Tea Research Institute of Tanzania in 2001. At the institute, she contributed in implementing a successful value chain under the public private partnership with the WAKULIMA tea company.
She also worked with the Enterprises Works Tanzania (a USAID funded NGO) for 3 years, where she contributed in establishing and promoting fruit production. Later in 2007, she proceeded to Regional Authorities, where she served as the Regional Agricultural Advisor for Mbeya Region Implementing Agricultural Sector Development Program (ASDP.)
Prior joining CAVA project, she worked in private sector, non-government organisations and also served in a public institution. Her key competencies are in enterprise development, market research, planning, project management, marketing, value chain development, monitoring and evaluation.
Mrs Mahende holds a BSc. in Horticulture and Msc. in Agricultural Economics.
